Baby Oliver Turns 1!!

We've actually been photographing Baby Oliver since he was still in his Mommy's tummy, and had such a fun year capturing this little guy as a newborn, 3-month-old, and 6-month-old baby :) The year has flown by, and before we knew it we were at Baby Oliver's first birthday party last weekend! We had so much fun, and - as you can see from the pictures - so did everyone else..

The Birthday Boy :) It was so great watching him play with the bubbles!
Sarah did a fantastic job as always: making rainbow cupcakes as well as this mini three-tiered cake for Oliver to enjoy. She even made a bucket full of colourful felt monsters for the kids (and photographers!) to take home :)

One of the entertainment highlights was this inflatable pool full of balls - I love this action shot of Big Brother Cameron! And how heart-meltingly adorable is the little snuggle sequence below?!
There was also a circus tent and crawl-through tube that were as fun to photograph as they were to play in! Plus - balloons, which were second maybe only to bubbles in terms of popularity :)
I love these images above - Oliver covered in berry juice, and Mike and Cameron giving
him fits of giggles!
And then.. drum roll.. cake time!! (Cameron did a great Big Brother job of helping to blow out the candle)
The cake was a big hit :) And how sweet is that perfect tiny icing hand print on Sarah's jeans??

Just over a year ago, we took a photo with a stack of three hands.. and now there are four :)
Happy Birthday Baby Oliver!!

Sarah & Mike: True story - on our way home, I got a bit nostalgic and said to Norman, "I wonder how many more years Cameron will think it's hilarious to be tickled and chased around the room? I wonder how long we've got until these boys aren't young enough to think that playing around with us grown-ups is fantastic, and instead we become embarrassing weirdos?" and he said, "I guess that's why it's important to Sarah and Mike to capture this while they're still young." You guys are awesome, and thank you so much for sharing your special family moments with us!

{to put it in a bit of context, this is now the 10th time we've photographed Cameron in his sweet little life, and the 12th time I've photographed Sarah & Mike, so it's maybe understandable that I'm pretty attached to this lovely family ;) }

Welcoming Baby Wyatt to the Family :)

When we photographed Natalie & Chris' gorgeous autumn lakeside wedding, Baby Jack (as he liked to be known at the time) was just taking his first steps. Well - time flies - and now Jack is grown up enough to be a big brother to the new baby in the family - Wyatt :) Jack's a lot quicker on his feet now, but he did take some time out to chill (however briefly) with his new little brother. We spent a lovely evening with the four of them, hanging out at the beach at the family cottage..
Wyatt is the most relaxed and patient baby in the world, and he was easily entertained while the four adults took turns chasing after Jack (who took his Superman responsibilities quite seriously!)
As you can see, we all had a blast! Thank you so much Natalie & Chris for inviting us to document this exciting new time in your family's story :)

Cooper's Four-Year-Old Fall Frolic :)

Cooper is one of my very favourite dudes, and I've had the pleasure of photographing him every year since his first birthday. We always have lots of fun and this year was no exception. When we met up, Cooper's Daddy told us "he doesn't really sit still anymore.." and he wasn't joking! He didn't let a little bit of rain slow him down one bit.

Here are some of my favourite shots from our session of Cooper having big 4-year-old adventures..
I love the rainy-day outfit that Cooper's Mama found for him! Trucks and tractors are about his favourite thing in the world, so being completely covered in them must be the best thing ever :)
this is Cooper's very first umbrella of his own - he was pretty pleased with it :)
every year, Cooper cracks us up with at least one great new facial expression.. this year it was "The Thinker"
Neither Daddy nor Cooper had any luck getting the sword from the stone.. maybe it's a five-year-old job?
We had a great time jumping in puddles, dancing for emus, running-running-running, slaying dragons, rescuing Princess Mama, and giggling all the way :) Thanks Cooper! And Happy Birthday!

Maria + Henry - Super-fun Engagement session at The Bluffs

Maria + Henry are getting married at the end of August, and when I asked them what was really important to them about their wedding photography they said "our son Tyler - he's a character and we really want that captured". So it was only natural to include Tyler in the engagement session. What happens when you bring a very active 3-year-old to an engagement session? Probably the most fun we've ever had doing engagement portraits - we ran, flew a kite, skipped stones in the lake, blew bubbles, had a tickle fight, and played with trucks. It was such a great afternoon :)
this frame was Henry's idea - and what a great one!
Maria + Henry - after spending time with the three of you, we were totally charmed by what fun and loving parents you guys are, and what an awesome little guy you've got :) I think we have a new best friend in Tyler, and I can't wait to see all three of you again to photograph your wedding day!
